Past: Financial Recovery Workshop

The United Way of Southeast Missouri is sponsoring an evening workshop to help families on the path to financial recovering following the Feb. 27 tornado. The workshop is designed for families affected by the tornado but it is open to anyone in the community who may be experiencing financial stress. Families are encouraged to bring older children to help them understand the financial burden a catastrophic or other unexpected event can place on a family budget and help with financial recovery. Ashley Bates, Family Financial Education Specialists with the University of Missouri Extension, will lead the worshop. Topics will include identifying sources of cash flow in an emergency, managing debt and how debt affects credit scores, keeping personal documents and information safe and financial resources and guidance for college-bound students. There is no fee for the workshop but registration is recommended by calling Jennifer Streiler at (573) 352-0904.
