The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m., at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center, located at 112 E. Washington in Jackson. Morgan Meyr Lake will present the program, “Moving Forward to America’s 250: New Resources from the Daughters of the American Revolution." Morgan Meyr Lake has held many offices in the DAR locally, and at the state and national level. She joined the John Guild Chapter NSDAR in Jackson on October 7, 2000 as a Junior member. Morgan is currently serving the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as Recording Secretary General. The DAR is looking forward to our Nation’s 250th birthday and is making new resources available to assist the public with discovering their personal connection to the American Revolution. Morgan earned a BA in Art History from the University of Missouri in 1992 and a MA in Public History: Historic Preservation at Southeast Missouri State University in 2012. She is a seventh generation Missourian with a passion for genealogy and has assisted over 50 prospective members locally with successful DAR applications.

The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society meets bi-monthly on the fourth Tuesday. Non-members are welcome at all meetings. Membership is $10 per year. The archive center will open at 6:30 p.m. for members to use the library for research.
