Past: River Tales Classic 40th annual Car Show

The River Tales Classic is sponsored by the River City Rodders Ltd. The Rodders were established in 1976 when a group of local hot rod enthusiasts who already hung out together decided it might be fun to organize a formal car club. The Rodders hosted their first car show in 1977 in the parking lot of the Town Plaza Shopping Center in Cape Girardeau. There are 41 classes with more than 120 trophies awarded. Registration is 8 a.m. to noon. There will be a pin-up contest and a vintage motorcycle show at Grass Roots BMW. This is a free spectator car show. The Cruise-In will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Capaha Park with complimentary barbecue, chips and beverages plus oldies tunes and door prizes. Car show judging will be held 1 to 3 p.m. with the awards ceremony held at 3 p.m.
