Past: Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society March Meeting

Cape Girardeau County Archive Center

August 10, 2021, will mark the two hundredth anniversary of Missouri’s entry as the 24th state to enter the United States. A state with many different regional cultures, geographies, and industries, each Missouri community, county, and region has a story to tell about its people, their history, their commerce, and their culture. By celebrating the accomplishments and diversity of all these regions, we help create a better understanding of our one Missouri and the ties that bind us together. The State Historical Society of Missouri has been designated by the Missouri General Assembly to lead the commemoration. Join the Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society on May 22, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center, 112 East Washington in Jackson, to hear about plans for the commemoration, and how local groups can plan to join in. Michael Sweeney, Missouri Bicentennial coordinator, will be the speaker. Other local historical, civic, and community group representatives are especially welcomed to attend this program.

The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society meets bi-monthly on the fourth Tuesday. Non-members are welcome at all meetings. Membership is $10 per year. The archive center will open at 6:30 p.m. for members to use the library for research.
