Past: Dear Samuel Clemens: Message in a Bottle

Over the course of several years, treasure diver and excavator Randy Barnhouse launched 60 bottled messages addressed to Mark Twain into the Mississippi River.

In these messages, he drew connections between a sunken Mississippi riverboat at Cape Girardeau; the legendary Spanish shipwreck Atocha, located near the Marquesas; the Mark Twain boyhood home at Hannibal; and the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet shipwrecks off the “Treasure Coast” of Florida.
