Past: One Nation, One Flag Veterans Ceremony

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri

For the second year, the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will present “One Nation, One Flag,” a celebration of the arts, to honor our nation’s military Veterans. This function will take place on Armed Forces Day -- Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The ceremony will include a patriotic exhibit, live music performances from local talent, and feature guest speakers. It is free and the public is encouraged to attend. Local area Veterans from the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau will be present as our guests of honor.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Ryan Jensen, an artist who comes to us from California. Jensen is a Marine Corps Veteran who served one tour of duty in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan. He will also be conducting a two-day painting workshop over the weekend in conjunction with the “One Nation, One Flag” ceremony. The workshop will serve as a “Plein Air Bootcamp” for anyone interested, and will conclude with a plein-air competition on Sunday. For more information about how to register for Jensen’s workshop, or to participate in the plein-air competition, visit our website at www.capearts.org.
