Past: Benton Neighbor Days

Held at Benton City Park, this annual event features a parade, pageants, live music, great food, mud races, and greased pole climb. The schedule of events follows:

Aug. 30: Midway opens at 5 p.m. by PBJ Happee Day Shows (armband night is $15) and registration for free prizes at the Chamber of Commerce booth; Final registration for photo and 4-H exhibits is 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce building. Grounds will close at 10 p.m.

Aug. 31: Midway opens and registration begins for free prizes at 5 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce booth. Last chance to submit photos and 4-H exhibits is 5 to 6 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce building. The tiny Mr. and Miss Neighbor Day starts at 6 p.m. with the Little Mr. and Miss Neighbor Day Pageant and Junior Miss Neighbor Day Pageant. You can view and photo and 4-H exhibits and vote for the "Neighbor's Choice" award from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce Building. The Miss Neighbor Day Pageant will begin at approximately 8:15 p.m. The greased pole climb will be at 7 p.m. Keith Morrison will provide live entertainment from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. near the beer stand.

Sept. 1: The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and the midway opens free registration for prizes will begin at 11 a.m. You can view and vote photos and 4-H exhibits from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce building. Registration for the mud races will begin at noon behind the old high school. Registration for the cornhole tournament will be from noon to 5 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce booth. The mud races will begin at 2 p.m. behind the old high school. Free games such as nail driving, water balloon toss and egg toss will begin at 3 p.m. near the Chamber of Commerce booth. Heartland Idol will be on the midway stage at 6 p.m. and the cornhole tournament will be held at 6 p.m. on the ballfield. The greased pole climb will be held at 7 p.m. near the Chamber of Commerce booth and Keith Morrison will provide live entertainment from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. near the beer stand.
