Past: Family Archaeology Day/Trail of Tears in Southeast Missouri

Bollinger County Museum of Natural History

Noon - 2 p.m. – Adults are invited to view the Trial of Tears exhibit plus digital and paper maps and documents. Researcher Eva Dunn will be on hand to answer questions.

Children will enjoy making cornhusk dolls, creating small pottery bowls, leather lacing crafts and playing “dart” games in the Discovery Lab.

2 p.m. - 4 p.m. – Eva Dunn will present updated findings of new discoveries of Trail of Tears routes in Bollinger County. You are invited to join in the discussion and view documents, maps, witness structures and digital resources that show a new view of how the detachments traveled from the Mississippi through Bollinger County. A surprise Bollinger County historical finding will be revealed during the presentation.

Hands on children's' activities and crafts appropriate to the archaeology theme will be ongoing throughout the afternoon.

All activities and presentations are free with your paid museum admission.

Museum Admission: Adults $5 and 17 years and under $2

The Museum will be open from 12 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
