Past: Organ Recital

St. Paul Lutheran Church

Mr. Sam Eatherton will perform an organ recital on Sunday, March 10th at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mr. Eatherton is a son of St. Paul and serves as the Minister of Music at Zion Lutheran Church and School in Dallas TX. As the Minister of Music, Mr. Eatherton’s duties include responsibilities in both the church and school. In addition to teaching general and choral music to grades 3 through 8 in the school, he plays the organ to lead the music in most worship services at Zion and directs the church adult choir, handbell choir, and chamber ensemble. Sam has been honored with the Richard Hillert Award in Composition from Concordia University Chicago and was a finalist for the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from the Texas District Lutheran Educators Conference. Sam is a member of the Dallas chapter of the American Guild of Organists and has served as its placement director since 2000. Sam has conducted workshops on worship and children’s choirs and regularly designs and plays hymn festivals at Zion. He has also directed the massed choir and instrumentalists for the Lutheran Hymn Festival of Dallas. Sam has had several of his compositions published by Concordia Publishing House of St. Louis, Missouri, including three volumes of organ music. He studied organ with Dr. Gerre Hancock at the University of Texas—Austin, and is completing his Doctorate at Baylor University.
