Title: Plant Sense and Hybrid Communication
Lecturer: Alex Adkinson
Through emergent technologies and research ecological science has uncovered a wide array of sensing and communicative abilities in plant life. This presentation will discuss the nature and possible implications of plant agency as well as how people may interface with, learn from, and move towards a more collaborative relationship with plant life. Throughout connections will be drawn to art practice, digital cultures and philosophy. This will be presented by Alex Adkinson, who is currently studying sculpture and has conducted ecology and arts research through the University of Minnesota, UC-Berkeley, and the US Forestry Service
