Past: Take a Walk! Make a Book - $35

Southeast Missouri State University Continuing Education

Do you pick up interesting objects, smashed bottle caps, and feathers when out for a walk? After you pick them up and put them in your pocket, what happens to them? They end up in a pile on the end of the mantle or on top of the dryer don’t they? Or do you have a stash of birthday cards, old buttons, gum wrappers, plastic army men and Cracker Jack charms? How about using them to make a unique one of a kind Hand Bound Book? You will learn how to include them in the binding or closure of a handmade book as well how to make pockets and room for thick objects in the interior of your book. Book boards, fabric, binding cord, assorted papers, and other needed materials are included in the cost of the workshop to complete a unique handmade book. Bring a few walk finds you might like to include in the making of your book. You will have the option of doing either a Stick Bound or a Japanese Stab Bound Book.
