Past: CATACOMBS - youth dinner theater production

Miner Baptist Church

Winter is approaching in the mountains. The leaves have changed, most have fallen, leaving skeleton trees. Almost lost and forgotten sits an ancient, abandoned church. Its architecture is unassuming, the style you’ve seen many times before and never paid much attention to. Because of changes in the law and society, the church has been left to decay. Yet, for eight people, this church has become a place to hide. A place to wait. These people live in a time when all elements will join in an attempt to turn the remaining whispers of personal faith and Christianity into silence. It is a time when the great debates and theological arguments no longer matter. It is a time of great tribulation. A time when all questions of heaven and earth are supplied by one power. All opposers disappear. It is a time when faith and survival must work hand in hand. And death wants the last word about all of it. (by Paul McCusker, author of Catacombs)

This is the premise of the three-act play, CATACOMBS, performed by PARABLE, the youth performing arts team of Miner Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri. Presented in the form of a Winter Dinner Theatre, dates are 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, February 13 to 16 in Studio One on the church campus. Tickets are $10 each, and include dinner and theater. Seating is limited for each night. Call the church office at (573) 471-1331 to purchase. Proceeds will help fund student summer missions opportunities.
