Past: After Hours: Conversations on Art and Culture - “Artist as Activist”

Catapult Creative House

After Hours: Conversations on Art and Culture will continue on Thursday, March 12 at 7 PM at Catapult Creative House.

This semester’s topic is “Artist as Activist.”

Artists have often served as the conscience of the culture to which they identify. Whether through documentation or interpretation, they are often the catalyst by which political and social issues are perpetuated.

This series will feature creatives who have made work (visual art, film, poetry, prose, etc.) about issues affecting their communities.

The speaker is St. Louis based fine artist, educator, and curator, Zackary Petot. Petot, a Southeast Missouri State University alumnus has been honing his skills in printmaking, utilizing monotype and screenprint over the past several years. He graduated from the University of North Texas with his Masters of Fine Arts in Printmaking in 2018. His work explores themes of queer codes within the LGBTQ+community, which are still referenced or long lost to the current queer culture.
