Past: ‘Outside/Inside’ Lecture for After Hours Series Dec. 9

Virtual event

The virtual event will be held at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

In his lecture “Outside/Inside,” Davis will discuss his view of public murals as well as the history of his practice with the subject. The lecture will clarify Davis’ conceptual motivations and cite some realizations he has made about his creative process along the way.

The “After Hours” topic for fall 2021 is “Public Art: Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs.” Traditionally, the gallery or museum is where art is kept. The viewer must consciously decide to go to these spaces in order to see what artists have produced. Public art, on the other hand, occurs outside of the confines of the gallery or museum. The public can be unaware of or surprised by an encounter with art within their communities. In this series, artists from a variety of disciplines will discuss their experiences creating public art and the unique challenges of this genre.
