February 6th thru 26th of 2022:

The Daughters of Sunset & The Reading Room INC. will be sharing the History of Local African American Culture. The exhibition will be displaying local Businesses, Life, Culture, Artifacts, Photographs, and Books of Black History.

The Daughters of Sunset is a nonprofit organization based in Sikeston, Mo. Focused on helping the area community in all facets of life, but their main objective is scholarships. You can find their organization on FACEBOOK under The Daughters of Sunset.

The Reading Room INC. Our mission statement is an ongoing commitment to cultural, economic, social, and spiritual empowerment. The resources to achieve these lofty goals are books, music, crafts, art and audiovisual materials. We hope we have created and maintained an atmosphere that is inviting, entertaining, and informative to our learning style. To help jump-start or recharge interest in cultural awareness areas unique to African-American, our resource center has a wide range of African centered books, music, art, crafts, and audiovisual materials. With our world becoming increasingly supply and demand driven, it is important and practical that we grow economically in proportion to our cultural development. It is to this dual challenge that we also provide research materials that can help empower. Winning the battles to become and maintain empowerment over cultural and economic challenges requires knowledge, which is at your disposal when challenging yourself at THE READING ROOM. This self-challenge includes being both responsible and accountable, especially to our ancestors and our community. We hope the resources available and provided at THE READING ROOM will help in your cultural, economic, social and spiritual empowerment.
