Past: Fictional Reading: 'Al's Sound, Big as God: An Interview'

Kent Library, Southeast Missouri State University

Dr. James Brubaker will be reading a story called "Al's Sound, Big as God: An Interview" from his recently published collection of short stories, Liner Notes. The collection is an exploration of the various ways that music shapes and is shaped by the human experience. The story he'll be reading, in particular, is told as an interview with an aging jazz saxophonist who recalls his youth, in the late 1960's, when he befriended the great, mysterious saxophone player Albert Ayler.
