Past: Private Pesticide Applicator Training

Cape Girardeau County University of Missouri Extension Center

What is pesticide applicator training, abbreviated PAT? In accordance with the Missouri Pesticide Use Act all individuals 18 years or older that purchase, mix, apply or supervise the use of restricted use pesticides must be licensed by the MO Department of Agriculture. Prior to private applicator licensing, the individual must receive training from the University of Missouri Extension. Missouri licensing is divided into three basic categories: private, commercial and dealer. The training offered on February 10th is for private applicator certification and re-certification. Private applicators are individuals involved in the production of agriculture commodities on property they own or rent and are 18 years of age or older. Commercial applicators are individuals, 18 and older, who use, supervise use of, or determine use of pesticides on lands of another as a service in exchange for a fee or compensation. These individuals must contact Missouri Department of Agriculture directly. If you are needing certification or re-certification of a private applicator license, please call the University Extension Center at 243-3581.
