Arts Council of Southeast Missouri

The Arts Council will host a reception for the VSA traveling exhibit “Turning the Clocks Forward Again.” “Turning the Clocks Forward Again” is an anthology of ork by talented professional and emerging artists with disabilities living in Missouri. The anthology features artists and writers from 16 towns cities and towns throughout Missouri. The Visual Arts Cooperative will also feature new works on display in the Jean A. Chapman Gallery.

Gallery of Inspiration

The Gallery of Inspiration is a gallery which showcases the artwork created by consumer artists of Community Counseling Center. This month the window display is a Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day theme with Photography, Paintings, and Papier Mache created by several of the artists from the Gallery of Inspiration.

BLack Door Gallery is hosting an exhibition of Don Greenwood's artwork, including 2 dimensional pieces that are whimsical, with adult humor.

The exhibition "Chris Kahler: Emanations" will be on display during the reception from 5 - 7 pm. Chris Kahler is a professor of painting and drawing, and the graduate coordinator for the department of art at Eastern Illinois University. This exhibition will feature his abstract and vividly-colored paintings.

Helen Towner will be displaying artwork during this First Friday’s Reception from 5:30 – 8:00 pm. In her statement, she writes, “The morning sky, a butterfly's wing, the color patterns on lilies; indeed, the flora, fauna, sky, land and water of the natural world in its great expanse.... these are where I literally and figuratively find my artistic inspiration. I have been drawing and painting before my conscious memory, although, formally, I have a bachelor's degree in art and secondary education from DePauw University in Indiana. It is with great joy that I share my art work with you at the March 2015 Yoga East Art exhibit.”

The Wright Group will be hosting the one-night only solo exhibition A La Carte, featuring student artist Lauren Younge. Younge is in her junior year at Southeast Missouri State University studying Art Education. Her artwork consists of vibrant, multimedia 2D work. In describing her artwork, Younge stated "My art allows me to take a mental break and release all of my thoughts, fears, and dreams; which results in an unintentional body of work, created almost by accident."
