Past: Fall Concert

Bollinger Mill State Historic Site

Missouri State Parks is sponsoring a free event at Bollinger Mill State Historic Site in Burfordville. You are invited to attend the annual Fall Concert Sunday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. and enjoy the performance by Miss Crystal's Pretty Good String Band.

Steve and Crystal Craig form the core of Miss Crystal's Pretty Good String Band. Steve plays hammered dulcimer and clawhammer banjo. Miss Crystal plays guitar and mountain dulcimer.

Steve has been performing for more years than he cares to admit, starting with the banjo at age 13. He currently works and teaches at a local music store. Steve especially loves the history and stories behind the music. Local schools have been using Steve for years to make history come alive at Missouri History Days and Civil War interactive learning programs.

Miss Crystal teaches children with special needs. She uses music throughout the curriculum. Steve and Crystal have been performing together with local musicians for the past 20 years.

Refreshments provided. Please bring a lawn chair for seating. Bollinger Mill State Historic Site is the site of a Civil War-era mill where visitors can learn how corn and wheat were ground into meal and flour by water power, just as it was done long ago. Burfordville Covered Bridge, the oldest of the four remaining covered bridges in the state, was built in 1858 and stretches 140 feet across the Whitewater River, which powers the mill.
