Downtown Cape Girardeau

This Friday, head to downtown Cape Girardeau to engage in the arts! Participating locations will be open for First Friday with the arts from 5-9pm unless otherwise stated.

Galleries

Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 North Main Street

The Visual Arts Cooperative presents their 13th Annual, three-gallery show. Galleries will feature pieces from 49 regional artists who are members of the Co-op, and who represent a multitude of artistic styles and media including two- and three-dimensional works. Music will be provided by local musician Dan Wiethop, who plays guitar, banjo, harmonica and autoharp. Co-op members and board members will be introduced at 6:00 pm.

The Artist Studio, 38 A North Main Street

The Artist Studio will be featuring new works by Judy Barks-Westrich. Studio will be open from 11 - 9pm. Scheduling for "Acrylic and/or Watercolor" workshops for April & May has started, for more information or to sign up call 573-450-2816.

Artisan Gifts, 821 A Broadway Street

Artisan Gifts features artisan made jewelry, ornaments, pottery and a wide variety of fine crafts. Porcelain Jewelry by Linda Bohnsack will be on display.

Bilderbach’s Art Plaza, 5 North Main Street

DazSpell Creations

From Herbal Teas to Bath Bombs, Lotions, Balms & Salves, DazSpell Creations offers locally made, hand-crafted products created with organic and natural ingredients. Also available Tea Infusers, Spirit Dolls, Dream Catchers, Wall Art, Doggie Delights, and Local Artisans.

Gallery of Inspiration

The Gallery of Inspiration is a gallery which showcases the artwork created by consumer artists of Community Counseling Center. During the April First Friday from 5 - 9 pm, Realty Executives will be holding an Art Show and Silent Auction to benefit the Community Counseling Center. The event is open to the public and will be in the back of Bilderbach's Art Plaza.

Painted Wren Art Gallery

The Painted Wren Art Gallery will be open noon to 9 p.m. for First Friday. Stop by to see the BARBARON minis, paintings, photographs, jewelry, note cards, goat milk soaps & lotions, and other items and visit with the artists.

WESTRAY Studio

Photography by Dr. Joel Ray and drawings by Jeanie Eddleman will be on display. New drawings, sandstone coasters, and calendars for 2015 of Cape, Jackson, and Perry County. We can also personalize items with YOUR favorite photos. Stop by and check out our wide assortment of Cape County area memorabilia.

BLack Door Gallery, 124 South Spanish Street

The BLack Door gallery will be showcasing Small Works by the Visual Arts Cooperative, which shows artwork monthly at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.

Renaissance, 139 North Main Street

Renaissance will be featuring the original fine art paintings and hand-crafted art pieces of artist and owner, Sherry Yaeger.

Friends of the Arts

The BAR, 117 Themis Street

Take the opportunity to view selected pieces of a collection of outdoor photography by Larry Braun. Exhibition pieces will change from time to time. Exhibit is free and open to the public when the The Bar Restaurant Area is open.

Annie Laurie’s Antiques, 536 Broadway Street

Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, 777 North Main Street

During the month of April, Isle Casino Cape Girardeau will present an exhibit of sculptural artwork by Cape Girardeau natives, Ben and Nathan Pierce. Pieces will be located on-site at the Isle Casino in Cape Girardeau. The Isle will also host a special First Friday reception in the Rotunda, downstairs from Keller’s, to commemorate the opening of the exhibit.

The Tangled Yarn has a new location! The shop will be moving to Broadway Street, between Shivelbine's and Red Wing Shoes, on Sunday, March 29th. They will be open for First Friday on April 3rd until 9 pm with goodies available. An Open House will follow on Saturday, April 4th from 10am - 5pm.

Yearning 4 Yarn, 208 Independence Street

Yearning 4 Yarn is featuring the art of Uniontown artist Dawn Melka.

Yoga East, 827 Broadway Street

Yoga East will be featuring the artwork of Shirley Bisher for the month of April. Their reception hours will be from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Since 2000, Bisher has been creating beautiful watercolor and oil paintings inspired by nature and her travels with her husband.
