Summary of Project: This project involves a public discourse Listening Session focused on preserving and expanding descendant communities across the region. It continues the effort of conducting critical, time-sensitive research to identify and interview individuals who attended Project Symposium-25 as invited guests. The goal is to preserve the history of Plantation era and historical remnants resulted off the Great Black Migration in the regions of the Mississippi Delta-Basin..

Symposium 2025: “The Great Awakening”

Objective: To unite regional and local descendants of enslaved individuals who have ties to culturally significant historic sites representative of enslaved Progenitor’s sacred burial grounds turn-of-the-century cemeteries across the landscape of the Mississippi River Delta valley, for two days dedicated to education, advocacy, and empowerment.

Southeast Missouri State University "The Bollinger Center for Regional History

This event aims to bring together descendants of enslaved individuals to foster a sense of community, provide educational opportunities, and advocate for the preservation and recognition of historic sites and cemeteries. It will be a platform for empowerment and raising awareness about the cultural significance of these sites.
