Downtown Cape Girardeau

This Friday, July 3rd, head to downtown Cape Girardeau to engage in the arts! Participating locations will be open for First Friday with the Arts from 5-9 pm unless otherwise stated.

Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 North Main Street

The visual Arts Cooperative will also feature new works in the Jean A. Chapman Gallery and in their mini-display.

The Artist Studio, 38 A North Main Street

The Artist Studio will be showcasing "Monoprints" created by Sheila Bohannon, Angie Brown, Ann Milam & Ayako Nagasaki in recent Printmaking Workshop. Also work by Judy Barks-Westrich will be featured. The studio will be open from 11-9pm.

DazSpell Creations

DazSpell will be highlighting Elizabeth Franks book ‘Dingo’s Pearl,’ when customers buy the book they receive 10% off Doggie Delights. From Herbal Teas to Bath Bombs, Lotions, Balms & Salves, DazSpell Creations offers locally made, hand-crafted products created with organic and natural ingredients. Also available Tea Infusers, Spirit Dolls, Dream Catchers, Wall Art, and Local Artisans.

Gallery of Inspiration

New works will be on display, as Gallery of Inspiration features artist Megan Staufenbiel. Staufenbiel works in many mediums while painting, including a Celestial oil paintings.

Painted Wren Art Gallery

$1 donation to St. Jude Children Cancer Research Hospital will get any visitor to Painted Wren Art Gallery one minute of painting time on the motorcycle painting. 99 people have painted on it so far.

WESTRAY Studio

Photography by Dr. Joel Ray and drawings by Jeanie Eddleman will be on display. New drawings and sandstone coasters are available. We can also personalize items with YOUR favorite photos. Stop by and check out our wide assortment of Cape County area memorabilia.

BLack Door Gallery, 124 South Spanish Street

The BLack Door gallery is hosting Feminine Perspective8. Women artists will be exhibiting their art the months of July and August, featuring a variety of mediums as diverse as the artists. From granite, oil, acrylic, photography, printmaking to sculpture.

Annie Laurie’s Antiques, 536 Broadway Street

Local author Michael Gurnow will be available beginning at 6pm to sign copies of his second book "Nature's Housekeeper." "Nature's Housekeeper," an eco-comedy, is a nonfiction book that humorously describes the adventures of an English professor making his way into the woods to eventually become a trail maintenance worker. It has been hailed by Suvivorman Les Stroud and author Daniel Quinn.

Cup ‘n’ Cork, 11 South Spanish Street

Ethan Jay Norman is a local emerging author and indie filmmaker who has recently published his first full-length novel. The Rain Factory is a post-apocalyptic modern western that takes place in New Mexico after a nuclear war. This First Friday, he will be signing and selling copies at Cup ‘n’ Cork, as well as answering any questions. Don’t forget, Cup ‘n’ Cork is always pet friendly!

Lattitudes will be showing artist David Niswonger’s bright, abstract paintings during this First Friday with the Arts. This week they will also be having a 30% off sale while raising money for care packages for children in Guatemala. Stop by to learn more!
