Cape Church of the Nazarene

On Sunday, October 11, 2015, the Cape Church of the Nazarene will celebrate 40 years of ministry in their church facility at 2601 Independence Street. A special service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a carry-in meal to follow. The service will feature special music, remembrances of the church’s ministry over the past 40 years, and a message delivered by Rev. Kim Smith, District Superintendent for the Iowa District Church of the Nazarene and a Cape Girardeau native. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Church of the Nazarene was established in Cape Girardeau in 1932, and the original church building was constructed on the corner of Park & Merriwether Streets. In the early 1970s, the church acquired land on Independence Street near the intersection of East Rodney and Gordonville Road. The new church was dedicated in 1975.
