Past: A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

“A Festival of Lessons and Carols” will be presented at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson on December 16th at 7:00 p.m. and at historic Old Saint Vincent’s Church in downtown Cape Girardeau on December 18th at 7:00 p.m. The Festival includes Hymns, Anthems, and Readings that chronicle the events leading up to the birth of the Christ Child. The Adult Choirs, Joyful Sound Ringers, and special guests of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jackson will lead these special candlelit services. The events are free and open to the public. The Festival was introduced at King’s College, Cambridge U.K. in 1918 to bring a more imaginative approach to worship. It was first broadcast in 1928 and is now broadcast to millions of people around the world each year.
