Past: An Evening in December

The Mayfield Cultural Center is proud to present "An Evening in December," a fundraiser concert featuring Merry Keller (mezzo soprano) accompanied by Ron Bryant (piano). On Monday, December 14th at 7pm. Ms. Keller will be singing an array of holiday, classical, art songs, and standards. The talented Mr. Bryant will also dazzle with his mastery of the piano. The show will be performed on the stage in the Chapel of the former Will Mayfield College in Marble Hill, Missouri. A portion of the proceeds from the show will go towards the purchase of the Yamaha C2 grand piano which will be used for the concert that evening. This will be the first performance using the piano in the Chapel. A dessert reception will follow.

Merry Keller has been active in St. Louis' cabaret scene, presenting a holiday show at Gaslight Theater in December 2008, and premiered her original show, Love in Four Seasons, at the Sheldon Concert Hall in October, 2009. A Love in Four Seasons CD has been released that includes twelve numbers from the show. Other solo shows include Songs of the Silver Screen at The Sheldon and Wade In the Water at The Chapel in St. Louis. Her local performing experience also includes Random Access, a St. Louis a cappella group, the St. Louis Chamber Chorus, and the St. Louis Women's Chorale. She has been soloist with those groups, along with many other local choirs and choruses. Merry Keller is a member of St. Louis' premier music performance club, The Ladies Friday Musical Club, since 2002. Merry Keller has sung in local coffee houses, recitals, entertained at parties and receptions, and has performed benefit concerts at the Sheldon Concert Hall and Immanuel Congregational Church. During the summer of 2012, Merry traveled to Italy and spent six weeks, studying and performing with Sessione Senese, touring and presenting concerts in Switzerland, and many venues in and around Sienna.

As director and teacher, Merry Keller founded and directed the West End Community Chorus in St. Louis, served as Director of Music at Centenary United Methodist Church, Parkway UCC, and Immanuel Congregation UCC, helped produce musicals at Dignity House and several local community theater productions. She has taught privately and in the public school systems of Pennsylvania and Missouri. Merry Keller has served as Artistic Director of CHARIS, St. Louis Women's Chorus from 1999 - 2004, was full-time Artistic Director of Gateway Men's Chorus from 2001 - 2007 and was the Artistic Director of the St. Louis County Community Chorus from 2006 - 2012. Currently, Merry is Director of Music at Kirkwood United Church of Christ.

The Mayfield Cultural Center, a project of the Will Mayfield Heritage Foundation, is located at 209 Mayfield Drive and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am until 3pm. Many functions of the 501(c)3 non profit organization are run by volunteers and may require an appointment.
