Past: Fourth annual poker run and cook off competition

American Legion Post 114 in Sikeston, Missouri, will hold its fourth annual poker run and cook off competition to benefit the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Missouri. A bean-bag toss tournament will be held June 3. The cost to enter the bean-bag toss is $25 per team. Reegistration will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. June 3, and play will begin at 7:15 p.m.

The poker run, cook off and Ultimate Flooring wing war will take place June 4. registration will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Bikes out at 10 a.m., in at 4 p.m. The cost is $20 per bike or vehichle and $5 per passenger. The cost includes a meal. Cards will be drawn at each stop. Best hand, $400. Worst hand $200. Bake traveling farthest: $50. The cost for the cookoff is $125 per team. There will be a 90 percent pay back on the wing war competition. The entry fee for the wing war is not included in the cook off entry fee. Cookoff teams will be judged on ribs, pork steak and half-chicken. The American Legion will provide all competition meat and wings. Royal Oak will provide charcoal. The deadline to enter is May 28. The grand champion of the cookoff will receive $1,000. Pay for overall second and third. Pay first, second and third in each category.

An auction will be held June 4. there will also be 50/50 drawings. Food will be served at 5 p.m. until food runs out, at a cost of $10 per plate. Carry-outs will be available starting at noon.
