Past: Registration For Summer Art Workshops

Cape Girardeau County History Center

Register for summer art workshops for ages 10 and up from 10 a.m. to noon at the History Center (102 S. High St., Jackson), Saturday, April 30 & May 7.

Paint a patriotic Kandinsky from 2-4 p.m., Fridays, June 3, June 24, July 29; Monet's bridge with waterlilies taught on June 10, July 1 and Aug. 5; a surprise painting taught June 17, July 22. Supplies will be provided. Bring an old magazine to mix colors on, a disposable cup for water and wear old clothes.

Totem pole making will be taught from 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays on June 7, 8; June 21, 22; July 19, 20; Aug. 2, 3. It will take two sessions to complete. Eight and ½ inch totem poles will not be carved but painted and detailed with contrasting colored pencils to give the appearance of carving. Wear old clothes, bring colored pencils, a pencil sharpener, markers (including metallic). Hot glue guns will be available but if you have one, bring it.

Weaving will be held from 9-11 a.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays, June 14, 15; June 28, 29; July 26, 27. Takes two sessions to complete. A frame will be supplied. Students will make, warp us and weave on the frame looms. Basic yarn supplied; bring any specialty yarns or rope with varying textures to add some pizzazz; Sharpie metallic and black markers.
