Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Center to hold seminar on negotiating in Jackson June 28

Do you have what it takes to negotiate a government contract?

Negotiations skills are essential to reaching success in the marketplace as well as in everyday life. As a result of attending this workshop, you’ll learn how the government negotiates, how you should prepare for negotiations and how to engage in negotiations using a win-win strategy.

Specialists from the Contracting Education Academy at Georgia Tech, a recognized educational leader in the contracting field, will provide insights you’ll receive nowhere else to help you negotiate with government agencies, prime contractors, suppliers and even potential business partners. You’ll also participate in a real-life negotiations exercise to learn first-hand what does and doesn’t work.

Learn how the government really negotiates, practical steps for successful negotiations, how to reach an outcome both sides find satisfactory and more. Presented by specialists from the Contracting Education Academy at Georgia Tech. Cost is $75.

The Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (MO PTAC, http://missouribusiness.net/ptac) is a lead program of the University of Missouri Extension Business Development Program (BDP), a statewide network helping businesses succeed in every stage from concept to startup, growth to renewal, maturity to succession through a variety of programs. MO PTAC’s mission is to assist businesses, including rural, small, veteran and women-owned firms obtain federal, state and local government contracts.

Although all data are not yet complete, MO PTAC clients received more than 2,000 contracts valued at greater than $480 million in fiscal year 2015. This has resulted in more than 5,650 jobs created or retained. This represents a win for the government, these businesses and their communities.
