Past: Memorial Day Program

The Mound City National Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day program. There will be free shuttle bus service at the former St. Mary's Church, corner of Diamond and Walnut Streets in Mound City, Illinois to and from the cemetery beginning at 9 a.m. The program will begin with a processional from Mound City to the cemetery. This year, Desert Storm veterans will be honored. The processional will include various motorcycle organizations and the Southeast Missouri Military Vehicle Association will transport Desert Storm veterans. The program will include patriotic music, historian notes by Richard Brumley, special recognition of Desert Storm veterans and a roll call of honr that will honor deceased veterans from all wars beginning with Civil War. The guest specaker will be David Gillarm Jr., a native of Mounds, Illinois, who served two combat tours with the 3rd Infantry Division.
