Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 16 North Spanish Street

From 6 – 8 pm, embrace the sound of a live marimba performance from Southeast University faculty member Chris Wilson. Wilson will give a solo performance and states that he enjoys bringing the sounds of the Marimba to “audiences in settings outside of the concert hall.” Read the recent Let’s Talk Arts interview here>

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is proud to host Subliminal: Hidden Messages, a National Juried Exhibition presented by the Bank of Missouri. Subliminal features a variety of media including painting, digital art, printmaking, and sculpture. Ali Cavanaugh, an internationally represented “modern fresco” artist, served as the exhibit juror. Sponsors include: The Bank of Missouri, Namaskar, Chocolate Works, The Bar, Buckner Brewing, Co, Stevie’s Steakburger, Love N’ Confection, The Spice of Life, Ragsdales Pub, and Capaha Bank.

New works by the Visual Arts Cooperative on display. Window exhibitors for the month of July are Brenda Seyer and Susan Corvick.

The Artist Studio, 38 A North Main Street

The Artist Studio will be showcasing "Acrylic Paintings" created by Sherry Sebastian & Vicky Surman in recent workshop. Also featuring new work by Judy Barks-Westrich. Please contact Judy if interested in day/night painting workshops in July or August. The studio will be open till 9pm.

Photography by Dr. Joel Ray and drawings by Jeanie Eddleman will be on display. New drawings and sandstone coasters are available. We can also personalize items with YOUR favorite photos. Stop by and check out our wide assortment of Cape County area memorabilia including 15 oz.mugs, a new book by Jeanie... "Perry County--Reflections of the Past” and new 2017 Calendars of Cape Girardeau, Jackson, and Marble Hill are available.

Catapult: Creative House, 612 Broadway Street

The Gallery: Artist/maker Bret Peters from Dos Vita Designs will be exhibiting his “Girardot Series,” a collection of handmade custom furniture. Each piece is hand crafted from steel, walnut lumber, and leather based on the idea of building quality furniture that will stand the test of time, while showcasing locally sourced, raw materials used in the process.

The Shoppe: Visiting vendor Sarira Naturals will be doing a presentation and demo of their personal care products and the natural products that go in them. There will be a giveaway of their products at 9 pm! Free wine will be available throughout the evening.

The Crisp Museum, 518 South Fountain Street

The Crisp museum will have an opening reception for Cleda Curtis’ From Portraits to Still Life as part of the museum’s inaugural Focus Exhibition recognizing a living artist in the southeast Missouri region who has produced a sufficient body of work, has not had a solo museum exhibition, and has made contributions of their time and artistic talent to their community. The opening reception is from 4 – 8 pm and the artist talk is at 6 pm.

As part of this exhibition and the Transition Spaces exhibition, five of Cleda's current and former students will have two works in the Transition Spaces and in her exhibition. These students include: Zenon Duda, Renee Gordon, Ellen Hahs, Lynn Lancaster, and Ann Ritter.
