Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 16 North Spanish Street

Student art works from the Southeast Missouri State University's Art Academy (except Children’s Ceramics and Young Potters), Art Reach, and Painting with the Elderly workshops will be on display at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri from August 7- 27, 2016. An opening reception will be held on First Friday, August 5th from 5- 9 p.m.

The Art Academy summer workshops are engaging and creative experiences in a wide variety of media for ages 6- adult held in the Southeast Missouri State University’s Art Department’s Art Studios, Art Reach sessions are afterschool art programs designed to enrich underserved students ages 6-15, and Painting with the Elderly are exploratory workshops held in the area’s retirement centers.

Approximately 230 students participated in this year’s workshops. The exhibits will include student work in ceramics, drawing, mixed media sculptures, printmaking, collages, paintings, computer graphics and animation.

New works by the Visual Arts Cooperative on display. Window exhibitors for the month of August are Carol Horst and Jean Rissover.

The Artist Studio, 38 A North Main Street

The Artist Studio will be featuring 5 guest artists - Elaine Carlson, Jerre Hall, Alison Kasten, Roy Meyer & Sharon Mueller. Showcasing some of their "Watercolors" as result of recent workshop. Also new paintings by Judy Barks-Westrich will be displayed. The studio will be open till 8:30pm.

Gallery of Inspiration

Gallery of Inspiration will have artwork on display created by artist Greg Ridenour and our other talented artists and photographers. We also have nice jewelry on display by Julie Beardslee and Jamie Wilson. Greg Ridenour has a variety of delightful colorful work done in Tempera Paint that glows in the dark. As always Kelly Nigro has new artwork for this month also. Come in and support our talented and creative artists.

WESTRAY Studio

Photography by Dr. Joel Ray and drawings by Jeanie Eddleman will be on display. New drawings and sandstone coasters are available. We can also personalize items with YOUR favorite photos. Stop by and check out our wide assortment of Cape County area memorabilia including 15 oz.mugs, a new book by Jeanie... "Perry County--Reflections of the Past” and new 2017 Calendars of Cape Girardeau, Jackson, and Marble Hill are available.

Catapult: Creative House, 612 Broadway Street

The Crisp Museum, 518 South Fountain Street

The Crisp museum will have Cleda Curtis’ From Portraits to Still Life on display as part of the museum’s inaugural Focus Exhibition recognizing a living artist in the southeast Missouri region who has produced a sufficient body of work, has not had a solo museum exhibition, and has made contributions of their time and artistic talent to their community.

As part of this exhibition and the Transition Spaces exhibition, five of Cleda's current and former students will have two works in the Transition Spaces and in her exhibition. These students include: Zenon Duda, Renee Gordon, Ellen Hahs, Lynn Lancaster, and Ann Ritter.
