Past: Fossil & Archaeology Day

Bollinger County Museum of Natural History

The Bollinger County Museum of Natural History, located at 207 Mayfield Drive, in Marble Hill, Missouri will celebrate National Fossil Day and International Archaeology Day on Saturday, October 15 from 12:00 (noon) to 4:30 p.m.

Arrowhead Fred Bollinger will have Native American tools for display and some to use from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. Try your hand at different types of primitive skills while you explore the world of ancient cultures. You may bring your Native American relics or finds you are curious to know about to the museum for Arrowhead Fred to identify.

Learn about the Missouri dinosaur discoveries, see bones from our state dinosaur plus a full size replica of the Missouri dinosaur, Hypsibema missouriense, and watch as our scientists work on a bone bed from the dinosaur dig site.

Bring in your fossils and "finds" for our scientist to identify, then explore the fossil record of Missouri through our exhibits. By studying fossils, scientists gain knowledge about how our planet has changed through its history and how different life forms have adapted to those changes.

Become a Jr. Paleontologist or a Jr. Archaeologist through our children’s activities. Activities include a fossil dig, make your own fossil, and fossil scavenger hunt. Pick up a free Missouri fossil as a prize for participating in our fossil scavenger hunt.

Young archaeologists can experience identifying different objects by following the clues archaeologists uncover or try their hand at reassembling a puzzle of an ancient vase through our hands on children's' activities.

Children ages 5-12 years can learn about fossils and earn an official Junior Paleontologists badge through the National Park Service program by completing fossil activities at the Bollinger County Museum.

Regular admission to the museum will apply. All activities are free with your paid museum admission.

Admission: Adults $5 each and 17 years and under $2 each
