The Chicken Information Workshop will include a presentation made to a maximum of 30 individuals explaining the best examples for creating a place to house and case for up to six laying hens. Tools, materials, designs, what to feed, how to care for them in summer and winter as well as different kinds of breeds will be explained. Edwin Smith will present the workshop. The presentation materials include visual information, feed and water containers, examples of coop building materials, as well as suggestions for having up to six laying hens in your backyard, meeting the Cape Girardeau ordinance requirements. Smith has raised chickens on his farm north of Cape Girardeau since he was 8 years old. Children 10 years old and up will be allowed with an adult. This is a two-part class so you will need to attend both classes on March 6 and 20. Registration is required.
