Past: 2017 BioKyowa Visiting Japanese Scholar

On Tuesday May 2, Dr. Shinya Matsuoka, associate professor of literature at Ryukoku University and the 2017 BioKyowa Visiting Japanese Scholar at Southeast Missouri State University’s Center for Faulkner Studies, will deliver a lecture on campus. He will discuss the works of William Faulkner and Ernest Hemingway.Professor Matsuoka’s lecture is entitled “Sublimating a ‘Little Postage Stamp of Native Soil’ into the Apocryphal: The Representations of Native Americans in Hemingway’s and Faulkner’s Short Stories.” The public is invited to the lecture to be held in Kent Library’s third floor lounge reading room 336. Admission is free.
