Past: Words on Fire! Poetry Slam

A literary and performative genre, slam poetry weaves words and high-energy performance into a powerful message. Poets, come show off your original slam poetry in the Words on Fire! Poetry Slam! Held at Cup 'N' Cork, 11 S. Spanish St. in Cape Girardeau, on Monday, July 10, registration begins at 6 p.m., and round 1 begins at 6:30. Group and individual entries will be accepted! Poets/groups must read a different, original poem for each round. It is recommended that poems take no longer than 3 minutes to read. Judges will consider the performance as well as the poem when assigning points. Total points from all 3 rounds will determine the winners.
