Past: Solarfest

The Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a celebration for the Total Solar Eclipse. There will be carnival rides, a parade, food, drinks, live music and more. Friday's schedule is 5 p.m.: carnival rides open; 6 p.m.: Solarfest parade and downtown festival begins with food, drinks, live music on the square. Saturday's schedule is 9 a.m.: Solarfest opens with science themed vendors, moon pie eating contest, alien costume contest, gyro-rides, science demonstrations, live music, food and drinks and 573 Solar Chalk Festival on the downtown square; 11: 1.m.: Perry County Courthouse Sundial unveiling, carnival rides open and Sky Dome Planetarium at Perry Park Center. Sunday's schedule is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 573 Solar Mud Festival in Perryville City Park, 1 to 7 p.m. Solarfest at the Grove at Seminary Picnic Grounds with carousel rides, washer tournament, picnic food and drinks, and live music; 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.: Solar Glow Run and Walk in downtown Perryville and when it gets dark, there will be nightime telescope viewing. There will be viewing of the eclipse at Perryville City Park, The Bank of Missouri Soccer Complex, Seminary Picnic Grounds and Perryville Regional Airport (aviation destination).
