Past: Kent Library Athenaeum Series: "The Case for Strangeness: A Pilgrim's Guide to Navigating the Liminal"

Kent Library, Southeast Missouri State University

A lecture titled "The Case for Strangeness: A Pilgrim's Guide to Navigating the Liminal" will be presented by Kris Baranovic, instructional design specialist with the Center for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning at Southeast Missouri State University.

Baranovic will explore liminality - the state of being betwixt and between social roles and identities - as a standard part of the modern undergraduate experience. An instance of controlled liminality is the pilgrimage. This session explores the weirdness that is liminality and uses the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage as a metaphor for managing the social and emotional rigors of college.

This presentation is part of Kent Library’s monthly Athenaeum series, located in Sadie’s Place on the main floor of Kent Library. All presentations in the Athenaeum series are free and open to the public.
