Past: Toastmasters Annual Speech Contest

Area 5 Toastmaster Annual Speech Contest will host their contest at the Marion VA Medical Center on Thursday,March 14 at 6 p.m. The competition is limited to club members, but the event is free and open to the public. This will be a fun-filled evening of entertainment and friendly competition.

Contestants from the Cape Girardeau clubs of High NoonToastmasters Toastmasters and the St Francis Toastmasters along with the Marion VA Toastmasters will compete in two categories: International Speech and Evaluation contests. International speeches can be on any subject but are limited from five to seven minutes. In the Evaluation contest, but all contestants will hear the same speech. Contestants will then have a limited time to prepare their evaluation which must be presented in the form of a speech, limited to three minutes. Both contests will be judged, and winners will advance to the Division A Toastmasters Speech Contest held in April.

The event is free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to observe and encouraged to consider joining Toastmasters at a future date.

The contest begins to at 6 p.m. and expected to conclude by 8 p.m.

Use the main entrance at the Marion VA Medical Center located at 2401 West Main Street, Marion,IL; follow signage to the Rec Hall, on the second floor.
