Past: Support for bereaved parents: Handling the holidays

St. Paul Lutheran Church

The holidays are coming quickly. There is support for all who have had a child die, no matter how recent or long ago, no matter their age at the time of death: loss of a child through miscarriage, stillborn or newborn death, infant, toddler death, or through the years into adulthood. The holidays remind us of children and their role in making the holidays special. We recall their smile, their laughter, their joy of the family celebrations. Planning is the first step in ensuring the holidays are a positive experience. Part of the planning includes thinking of ways to honor our child and remind our friends and family that although our child is no longer with us, they are always in our hearts. We will share tips on managing Thanksgiving and Christmas and discuss ways of honoring our children. The meeting is Nov. 24 at 6:00 P.M. Room 201 at St Paul Lutheran Church, 223 W. Adams St., Jackson. Enter back fenced-in parking lot. Enter through double glass doors. The trained facilitators are also bereaved parents. For additional information, call Molly Strickland at 573-204-0469.
