Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum

Visual art will be the focus of the Aug. 20 installment in the “Talks on Tuesday” series in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.

Local artist Dave Carter will give the presentation from 7-9 p.m., and is free and open to the public.During his lecture, Carter will provide artists a more concrete approach to their artwork and help friends and family better understand art and artists. Topics will include the purposes of art, philosophies, art history, reasons behind responses, symbolism and subliminal, and evaluating artwork.

Carter’s retrospective fine art exhibition “OPUS 68” is currently on display in the Museum and is an eclectic mix of genres, incorporating landmarks, portraits and abstracts. The exhibit will remain on display through Aug. 25.
