Past: Southeast Art Guild Chili Cook-off, Art Show and Sale

River Campus Cultural Arts Center

The Art Guild, a Southeast Missouri State University student organization of artists and those interested in the arts, is holding its annual Chili Cook-off and Show and Sale.

The Show and Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, in the atrium of the Cultural Arts Center on the Southeast River Campus. Students will be selling handmade ceramic bowls and a variety of other creative work. Patrons who buy a bowl for $10 or more are then able to attend a Chili Cook-off later that evening, where they can eat unlimited chili and desserts for free. The entry fee is $10 for those without a bowl.

The Chili Cook-off will be held at Catapult Creative House from 6-8 p.m. that Oct. 3. Faculty, students and staff are invited to bring their chili creations or desserts to Catapult by 5:45 p.m. Chili should be in a crockpot.

This year’s judges are Liston Vance and Scott Stuhldreher, both alumni of Southeast Missouri State University. Their ceramic works will be on display in the Catapult Gallery. After judging the chili, Liston and Scott will give a short artist talk.

Attendees are welcome to tour the entire Catapult facilities, including the Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art students’ studios upstairs, as well as the Catapult Creative Shoppe, which features student work and local business products.
