Past: Kent Library Athenaeum

Kent Library, Southeast Missouri State University

The Kent Library Athenaeum series continues with "The Vietnam War in American Childhood" on Wed., Nov. 20 from noon to 1:00 p.m.

Dr. Joel P. Rhodes, Professor for the Department of History and Anthropology will speak on how American children raised during the Vietnam War were the first to grow up with televised combat. Between 1965 and 1973 many American children integrated some elements of the war into their routines, and parents also helped shape their children's perspectives on Vietnam. Dr. Rhodes will take a look at the Vietnam War through the eyes of preadolescent Americans and how their perspective on Vietnam continues to impact adult notions of militarism and warfare.

This event will be held in Sadie's Place, on the main floor of Kent Library. It is free and open to the public.
