Cape Girardeau County Courthouse lawn

The Jackson School District librarians posed the question, "How can we continue to build a community of liflong readers?" Answer? Host a community wide even which celebrates and encourages reading. Individuals, families and groups of all ages are encouraged to gather on the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse lawn for a night of reading and activities. Bring a book, a blanket or lawn chair and celebrate reading with friends and family. This community event is made possible through the support of the Jackson School District libraries, Riverside Regional Library, Jackson businesses and JHS service groups. In addition to reading on the lawn, other activities such as a book swap, storytellers and guest readers are planned. Food trucks will also be in attendance. Lemonade and cookies will be provided by Alliance Bank. IN case of inclement weather, Jackson Reads will be held at the Jackson Civic Center.
