Past: Red House Presentation: When Cape Girardeau Was Spanish
Shawnee Park Center
Join the Red House Interpretive Center’s guest speaker Dr. Frank Nickell on Saturday, August 15, as he speaks about “When Cape Girardeau Was Spanish: 1762 – 1803.” Dr. Nickell will speak at 11:00 a.m. at the Shawnee Park Center and reveal some of the fascinating and lesser known aspects of our pioneer and frontier history during the short time of Spanish Rule from 1762 – 1803. Dr. Frank Nickell, retired Southeast Missouri State University professor, current Board Member for the Red House Interpretive Center and Historian for the Kellerman Foundation, is always a treasure trove of knowledge and local history of Cape Girardeau and the region.
The Red House Speaker Series is a free, educational opportunity and provides a wonderful glimpse into our early frontier settlement. This presentation will be held at the Shawnee Park Center (835 S. West End Blvd, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703 - Masks will be required indoors). There is no charge for this event, but donations are appreciated!
