Past: Mound City National Cemetery Memorial Day Program
Veteran's Park
The Mound City National Cemetery Preservation Commission will hold its annual Memorial Day gathering this year at Veteran's Park in Mound City, Illinois. The National Cemetery Administration forbids any public programs at the national cemetery. This year's speaker will be General Ulysses S. Grant, commander of the federal forces at Cairo in 1861. Portraying the union general will be Dr. Curt Fields, a national recognized Grant historian from Memphis, Tennessee. The public is invited to an old-fashioned Preservation Picnic, held on the Mound City National Cemetery Preservation Commission history "Rawlings Reservation" located at 315 South Fourth Street in Mound City after the program.
