Past: Cattle Consciousness Exhibit

Cattle Consciousness, an exhibition of works by Ciara Potter, will be on display through Feb. 24. Hampton was born in Hampton, Virginia and was raised in rural Tennessee. She is a student at Southeast Missouri State University working toward a bachelor's degree in art with an emphasis in graphic and interactive design. The exhibition is a commentary on the artist's frustration with social archetypes that restrain her own self-actualization. In her work, she dispels the homogenous perspective of the African disapora through the creation of a series of digital prints that symbolizes the diversity and uniqueness of the black community. Anopen reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.
