Past: Red House Presentation: Life in Missouri in 1821

Listen to Bill Eddleman speak on Life in Missouri in 1821, the Year of Statehood. This free speaking event will be held on Saturday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shawnee Park Center. Bill Eddleman is an 8th-generation Cape Countian, who had numerous ancestors in Missouri at the time of statehood. A retired biology professor at SEMO, he is part-time associate director of the Cape Girardeau Research Center, the State Historical Society of Missouri, local history and genealogy columnist for the Southeast Missourian, and this year hosts weekly "Missouri Bicentennial Minutes" for KRCU. This event will be held at the Shawnee Park Center at 835 S. West End Blvd. The Red House Interpretive Center is located in downtown Cape Girardeau, across from Old St. Vincent’s Church, and open on Fridays & Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free!
