Catapult Creative House

Short story author Dr. Erin Flanagan will perform a public reading of her work on Wednesday, May 1, at Southeast Missouri State University as part of the Dorothy and Wedel Nilsen Visiting Writers Series.

The event is free and open to the public and is funded by the Dorothy and Wedel Nilsen Visiting Writers Series and the Southeast Missouri State University Press.

A book signing will follow the reading, and books will be available for purchase at the event.

The Nilsen Visiting Writer Program brings a successful writer to campus each semester to talk with students about the crafts of writing and editing.

Flanagan is a professor of English at Wright State University and the author of two short story collections, “The Usual Mistakes” and “It‘s Not Going to Kill You and Other Stories,” both published by the University of Nebraska Press. Her stories have appeared in numerous publications, including The Missouri Review, Colorado Review, The Southern Review and Prairie Schooner. She has held fellowships with Yaddo, The MacDowell Colony, UCross and the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences.
