Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center

Registration period: March 7 - March 28

Forests cover approximately a third of Missouri and are a vital resource for environmental, economic, and social benefits. Providing proper care encourages a healthy and sustainable forest community for both humans and wildlife. Timber stand improvement is a management method designed to thin undesirable and poorer quality trees, improving wildlife food and habitat and increasing resources for tree quality and vitality.

This program will cover concepts regarding forest management components, principles and actions for implementing timber stand improvement, and a tour of the forests around the nature center to view a living demonstration of forest management activities in progress.
